In my experience, self-serve is not faster and more convenient because there is always an issue when using your own bags (which is now the norm), and you end up having to wait for assistance.

We have no choice but to use them because there is only one check out open and some have closed for items less than 12.
I rarely use them and prefer to leave without buying anything. The self-service technology, cameras, body cams, and expensive prices make it more cost-effective to hire human staff.
