The only drama is that it went down in the group chat. Fair dinkum, they could've just left him in the dark about the shifts but at least they had the decency to give him the heads up. They could've just kept leading him on with the same old "no shifts this week, mate."

Unfortunately, Wollongong doesn't have the necessary infrastructure like schools, ambulances, and hospitals causing patients to wait, sometimes even on the streets. Paying $60k is unfair considering it would have only cost $46k to dump them at Dunmore Tip; he should cover the clean up expenses.
