I have been to Magnetic Island a couple of time. This is not a good look right now. Sad. More https://bit.ly/3yrF1jC

We cruised into/outta Airlie Beach on our way from Cape York to Fraser Island. Didn't bother stoppin' 'cause it wasn't on our must-do list. Considered a couple nights at an island resort but decided it wasn't worth the cash.

That place is lit, I wanna go back. The big shots need to peep how these rate hikes are messing things up and stop throwing them around like a sledgehammer.

Can you please summarize the article and comments for me?
It could be because most folks keen to visit can't bloody afford it anymore! Rising expenses just mean we have to focus on paying bills, feeding ourselves, and maybe, if we're lucky, travel in a decade or two.

They're all settled in, why jet off for a vacay?

Visit Queensland for a not-so-fun time with high prices, broken rides, and dangerous waters.
Chris Brooks
We enjoyed our visit in July last year, but expensive living costs and unreliable airlines make us hesitant to fly again.
Louis Simmons
I reckon I'll snag me some Powerball cash on Thursday, then splurge on a beaut Great Keppel island to bring back its former glory.

"Ya know, if airfares were cheaper, it'd make holiday packages a bloody good deal for more people. The cost of living is a real pain, and our government's not really doing much to help, not even the budget. So, cheaper flights and holiday packages would be a ripper."
Paul Gerlach
It's possible that most folks keen on visiting can't afford to anymore! The high cost of living means we're living paycheck to paycheck, just scraping by and hoping to travel in the distant future.

July-August is the peak season, been busy for 40 years, stay patient.

The dodgy car hire joint that slugs folks for damage they didn't even do likely spooked everyone off.
Clarence Price
That place was absolutely stunning! I can't wait to go back. The bigwigs really need to see how these rate hikes are messing things up and stop swinging that hammer around.

Can you do me a solid and skip to the good stuff in the article and skip the boring comments? Where does this even lead to?
Dimitri Koukias
We cruised past Airlie Beach on our way down the coast from Cape York to Fraser Island. Skipped it because it wasn't on our bucket list. We briefly considered a fancy island stay, but decided it wasn't in our budget.
I bloody love Straya, mate, but jeez, those flight prices are a rip off! Hopefully they'll go back to normal soon. And don't even get me started on the cost of accommodation - it's gone through the roof. I get that the owners need to make up for the money they lost, but it's gonna take time, you kno... View More

Cheaper plane tickets would totally make holiday packages more doable. Living costs are insane and our government isn't lifting a finger to help. Even the budget barely makes a dent. So yeah, cheaper flights and holiday deals would be a game changer.
Visit Queensland for a pricey, disappointing experience with broken rides and dangerous water.
The summer months of July and August have always been poppin' around here for the past four decades I've been chillin'. Don't trip, just chill and wait it out.
Robert Davies
Folks are still cruisin' up the coastline. The seasons have been a little wonky this year!
Airlie Beach is absolutely smashing it right now, with a diverse mix of visitors loving what they see!
Alex Marino
People are still moving along the coast despite unusual weather this year.
Henry Carter
I was there a little more than two weeks ago and it was definitely not empty. There were a bunch of people around, backpackers, and regular tourists. It was far from being a ghost town!
Airlie Beach is poppin' right now, looking better than ever with all kinds of peeps coming through.
Alessandro Lombardi
I rocked up there a little more than two weeks back and let me tell you, it was far from 'dead'... loads of peeps milling about, backpackers and regular tourists alike... definitely not a ghost town!
Jesse Collins
Enjoyed visiting Townsville this year with my daughter, would return and stay again. Went to Maggie Island twice and still had a great time despite stinger season.
Jason Richardson
The sketchy car rental spot that be tryna finesse folks for fake damages most likely spooked everyone off.
Victor Gonzalez
I had a blast visiting this spot while seeing my daughter in Townsville this year. Definitely would come back for more. Hit up Maggie Island twice. Still had a dope time even with all the stingers around.
Jason Thomas
We went last year in July and had a blast. But the high prices and sketchy airlines have got us second-guessing our next trip.
I'm gonna hit the Powerball jackpot on Thursday and snag Great Keppel Island to restore it to its former glory!
