Carlton players have endangered their health by diving forward with their head down to win penalties, a form of staging. They should be fined or suspended to show that such behavior is not acceptable if the AFL is serious about preventing head injuries.

So, last week he was totally backing up the umpires to Peter Daicos, even though they made some really bad calls, like when Owies acted like Maynard slung him to get a free kick and score a goal. That's just plain cheating.
The ump made a mistake by intervening in that play, he should have let it go. It's common sense in close games.
The umpires are overly cautious in awarding free kicks for head injuries, focusing only on head contact with the turf and not taking into consideration the actions of the players being tackled.

Umps don't get the luxury of slow-mo and replays. They might make iffy calls in the heat of the moment. It is what it is, but the MRO does have access to those tools. They should start cracking down on diving with fines or suspensions. That'll put a quick end to the problem.
