It's easy - if it's an event where you'd usually hear the anthem, it's cool to give a shout out to country too. But if it's not that kind of event, skip the welcome/acknowledgement. We're watering down the welcome/accknowledgement by using it too much.

It's sooo played out! Fox sports/Kayo always blast it before every game in New Zealand. How can anyone take it seriously when it's played before a game in a different country? It's like busting out the Haka when Canberra takes on Newcastle.

Maybe it's not the speaker, but all that talking that's the problem. It's starting to feel like that George Orwell quote, you know, "All Australians are equal, but some are more equal than others."
